Are some creams supposed to make your skin tight?

I have pretty dry skin and I bought a small jar of Olay Age Defying Intensive Nourishing Night Cream. Next day, my skin felt really tight. The day after, there was alot of peeling dead skin so I used Aveen hand lotion and the dead skins are gone. My skin stiill feels tight, not sure if it's a good thing or not
